Performance-Based Navigation (PBN)

PBN Course Description

The Performance Based Navigation course provides pilots with the required theoretical knowledge to fly GNSS approaches safely. Before starting an RNAV (GPS/GNSS) approach or LPV approach the pilot must be qualified to fly RNAV1 (P-RNAV) arrivals and departures in accordance with OM-D in addition to flying overlay approaches.

All for approaches included in your course and in your licence: LNAV-VNAV, LNAV, LPV and LP.

As of 2020, having completed the PBN Course is a compulsory requirement for IR (Instrument Rating) training, which must be PBN certified by an authorized ATO.

Flight Training Hours (2 hours)

  • 2h ELITE S923 FNTP II MCC Simulator Twin Engine Turboprop
  • All four approaches included in the course and in your licence: LNAV-VNAV, LNAV, LPV and LP

Enrollment

Standard pre-requisites:

  • English language equivalent to ICAO Level 4
  • Hold an IR rating without PBN (Performance Based Navigation) privileges
  • Be enroled in the ATP or IR course
  • Bookings must be completed in advance, one month prior to course start.
