INSTRUMENT RATING INSTRUCTOR (IRI)

The EASA Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) rating entitles the rating holder to instruct a student to the level required for the issue of an instrument rating (IR), including flight instruction in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC), including IR theoretical knowledge instruction. The course includes 25 hours of teaching and learning (not required for holders of an FI rating), 10 hours of theoretical technical instruction, and 10 hours of flying training, and can be completed in 1 week.

PRE-ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold an EASA CPL(A) or ATPL(A) and Instrument Rating (IR)
  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Have completed at least 800 hours of flight time under IFR, of which at least 400 hours
    must be aeroplanes
  • For an IRI(A) for multi-engine aeroplanes, the applicant must meet the requirements of EASA Part-FCL paragraph 915.CRI(a)
  • For the holder of an Flight Instructor (FI) rating wanting to provide IR flight instruction, he/she must have completed at least 200 hours under IFR of which 50 maybe ground instrument time in an FFS, an FTD 2/3, or a FNPT II
